Ko Haa Cathedral

Ko Haa Cathedral is one of Ko Haa’s highlights – to experience diving through a series of large and spectacular, interconnected caverns and swim-throughs is truly awe-inspiring.

The largest cavern has three chambers and is known as ‘The Cathedral’. The first two chambers are connected by a shallow swim through at about 9 metres.
It’s possible to surface inside the Cathedral and see the limestone stalactites looming from the high ceilings.

Light floods in through the two large entrances and offers great underwater photographic opportunities for atmospheric silhouette shots.

Infront of the Cathedral a pair of Harlequin Shrimp hide in a small hole, often seen with starfish which they have caught and taken back to their lair!

Ko Haa Cathedral Dive Site at a GlanceFollowing the island round towards the beach, there are many large rock formations covered in vibrant soft corals, perfect for those ‘sunburst’ shots. Out in the blue pelagics can be found and large schools of trevallie can be seen hunting the little glass fish which cover the rocks, providing great action footage for the budding videographer! Occasionally Leopard sharks can be seen swimming in the currents or resting on the bottom. Moray eels, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Lionfish, Turtles, Barracuda and various Nudibranchs are commonly encountered in the area.

Don’t miss the huge coral formations near the beach area that are several metres high. Mushroom corals provide a home for many types of shrimp, small crustaceans and an abundance of delightful and colourful Christmas Tree Worms.
